Great tip. I've been doing it similarly but with only water wiped on the reverse side. Results vary... guess what that means...
I'll try it using several percentage rubbing alcohol and see what works best.
This should be a big help with nosecones on fuselages and bombs.

I am glad that Gil tuned in and showed something of his decade-long work on the subject. Here are three of his threads, on this site, and on the subject of shaping paper parts. All worth reading for inspiration to continue the work, in the spirit of Miles' experiment:
