Agree completely with the Fiskars scissors, especially good for me as I have arthritis and round hole scissors hurt my hands. Plus they are ambidextrous, many round hole scissors are contoured for right hand only.
Another important thing (for me anyways) is lots of light! I have a swing-arm light with a magnifier glass over my work table.
Also, peruse the tips and techniques section. Even if it doesn't seem relevant now, it may jog something later.

One of the very best tools that I use for part cutting are leftovers from my University days - the fine pairs of scissors used as part of a dissecting kits. They are absolute magic for precision cutting, and can be had for small amounts of money from science and laboratory supply companies internationally.
