Which one are you making?
Possibly you'll have a better response after posting some photos of tread parts and assembly drawings.

Multiple copies of the tire tread in question. Probably best to use cheap copy paper. The first one acts as a base. You cut out the pieces of tread and glue them on the base copy. this is your first layer. When you cut out the next layer you cut it smaller than the previous layer and glue it where you want your raised section of tread to be.

Oh, that looks a lot like how MaksArt does it with his ZIL 4906 truck which I finished building a couple of weeks back. The Komatsu version here has a nice subtlety in the rounding of the tread surface, though, which I really like. The rounding makes the wheel look much more realistic. Interesting to see this.
What I liked in the wheels of MaksArt's model is that the sidewalls of the wheel are made in one part, not two like in this build. You just need to curve the paper to get it bulged like the wheel's sidewalls are. (link to post in my thread on making a wheel)

Now I would like to see a paper wheel (stationary of course) where the bottom half is a little more flattened (and the sides bulged out a bit more) by the weight of the vehicle. Interesting problem to get one's head around. How would a shape like that fold out?
