Cheap Olfa Knife alternative

Hi! I’m new to the hobby and up until now have been using a Swan Morton surgical handle with no. 11 blades for my cutting. Unfortunately, they are not perfect as the blades are inclined to flex and even snap on occasion. Which is not nice! Looking for an alternative it appeared that the winner was the Olfa Art Knife. As I work on a VERY tight budget purchasing the handle was well above my means so decided to make my own. The bits required were an old pin vice (left over from my plastic modelling days) miniature files/wet n’ dry, super glue and a ball point pen barrel. Luckily the jaw of the pin vice was 4mm in diameter which a perfect size for the Olfa blades. Simply cut/file the pin vice to a snug fit within the pen barrel and super glue in place. Sorted! Cheers! John

Well designed. Olfa makes some very good knives and blades but only become halfway affordable when I have a 40% off coupon from Michael's or some place like that.
