Bigpetr, I do it to protect the printing while I work on it. A couple of light coats seals it enough were glue smears are easier to prevent and if a bit of moisture gets on it much better chance of not damaging the printing. If its off an inkjet printer consider it almost mandatory to help seal the inks.
