Matt Varnish for Paper Models

Guys,

Is there a concensus on which is the best matt varnish for paper models?

I've had a disaster in the past with acrylic aerosol, and now use Winsor & Newton Galleria.

Thanks.

Try Krylon matte spray in a rattle can.
Spray it on to the pages of the model before cutting and gluing.
Just make sure you shake the crap out of the can and also warm it up slightly under some warm running water. This should prevent any fogging. I always give two light coats.

I've had good results with Testors Dullcote without the fogging issues that sometimes happen with Krylon Matte.

Thanks guys. I like to apply it on completion of a build to normalise the finish ie to give the printed paper and any excess glue the same sheen.

I use Krylon Protect It matte before cutting out anything. Works great for me. Just make sure you shake it very well.

I take it that Winsor & Newton Galleria works well for you. Any advice or cautions on using it?

Please, can you explain why do you spray it before cuting? What is the reason for that?

Don
It dries very matt, takes a day to fully dry.

I had a lot of issues with matt varnishes blooming, or attacking black ink (specifically on the HMV "Mellum"). What I do now is - as a precaution - airbrush a mist coat of Johnson's Klear over the model (which seems to seal the ink), then use the Galleria matt.
