It comes with time. I did try to use plastic clamps but they were more trouble than help.

i use a variety of tools. painter tape (delicate surface type), scotch atg tape, hair clips that i modify as needed, miniature wooden clothespins. the trick is to hold a part firmly but without damaging it, especially painted surfaces. holding tiny parts 'squared up' while gluing is a constant challenge and endless source of experimentation for me.

Tamiya masking tape is excellent for that purpose

I used magnets glued to pop cycle sticks. One on one side and the other one the opposite side. It worked in some cases but the tape that painters use to make a clear clean line works also. I don't' stick for long with handling. It comes in yellow, blue and green I think. wc

When using Painter's Masking tape, tear off a piece, then apply & remove it to your Cutting mat a couple of times. That reduces the stickiness so that it'll peel off your parts without taking paper with it.

I sometime use photo glue, which is a sort of rubber glue. You can take the parts apart again, and rub off the remaing glue into tiny rubber balls.
