That small circular part I cut was about 2.5 mm, and it cut easily. When you cut with this tool, you grab the lock nut on the blade arm and spin the disk counter clockwise. You are spinning the entire middle disk when you cut, and the arm works like a cam to move the blade in a smaller circle inside the larger disk. There videos on youtube and on Shadow Hobby that show it in action, it moves differently than a compass style cutter. The website says it can cut down as low as 0.5 mm but 2.5mm was the smallest part I had on hand. |

ebf2k - Thank you very much for the replies to my questions. Much appreciated.
It sounds like a great tool for cutting circles now exists....

You are to be commended on this thread. You did an excellent job of testing and showing the results of your tests. SInce they keep telling me I can't take it with me I am purchasing this.

I agree, instead of just posting a quick "this thing is good" type pf comment, you've spelled out exactly how good it is and given plenty of examples. I have also ordered one.
I build a lot of vehicles with a lot of wheels, this will definitely come in handy, especially considering the next model in my queue has around 50 wheels. I've never been a fan of compass cutters, as even when the center is marked, they can still be a bit hit and miss. I think you need to contact these guys and see if you can get some sort of commission. |

Ha ha! That was not my intent, just to call out a good product when I find it. Maybe I should post some reviews of some products I tried that turned out to be crap to balance it out.

Wow, one of the neatest new tools I have seen in a long time. Thanks for the very good review and photos. But, at $102.60 Canadian with shipping and exchange, I will have to think about this for a bit.

For some reason, my post #28 did not become visible until after you provided all the essential information needed to make a purchase decision.
The tool is $49.95 plus $9.95 for a thee-pack of blades (30, 45, or 60 degree cutting angle). Expensive, but affordable for me with a little budgeting, and worthwhile based on your description. Many thanks for this truly outstanding review and follow up. Don |
