Forming Handrails and Handholds

Isn't there a tool, like a flat sheet of steel with notches or holes at different distances and dimensions that modeler's use to bend wire to form handrails quickly and consistently?

Way back when, I was building a scale model of the Hubble telescope and was using pliers and wire to form the handrails/handholds. About the same time, Hans was adding railing all over his build of the ISS. So I know that there was a discussion about the myriad of options and tips and ways to do this work. But for the life of me I'm not finding what I think I remember seeing.

I visited thesmallshop.com thinking that it was part of a photoetch tool, but they don't have anything like that now.

Micro-Mark has bending jigs for photo etch parts, wire bending jigs, and bench presses. One of them might be what you are looking for.
The pliers used by orthodontists to shape stainless steel wire come in different shapes and can be used to bend loops and right angles. They are expensive new, but used ones and manufacturers seconds turn up at flea markets and craft shows.

There are similar tools used by jewelers, look these over before buying, the inexpensive ones are unhardened and so flexy they are useless for bending un-annealed wire, or they are made for women's craft market and a least for me have uncomfortably small handles.

I found some references for tools used to make scale model handles.
One is called The Wedge, but the website does not seem to be working anymore.

You will have to do some searching to find a supplier.

Two more are called The Wrangler and Wire Assist.

The supplier referenced in the video is The Small Shop. Go there and do a search for The Wrangler and/or Wire Assist.
