how is this done?
just starting out so i have questions. ive seen some superb models of ww1 aircraft,and looking at the engine cowlings they appear perfectly smooth and seamless. now i know these start out flat! how on earth do they achieve this effect please? its probably obvious but im just not seeing it. any help would be appreciated. cheers

It would help if we could see exactly which ones your referring to. There are several
different methods to achieve this. Some include using a round object to smooth the seams, some involve a filling/sanding/painting method.

Ray said it, if you show us the design of the hood we could help you better. It's not easy to get those curves. Show us a photo and we can give you some methods.

leonn56, to post pics: instead of using Quick Reply at the bottom of the page, click the "Go Advanced" button. Then click the paper clip button in the editor to open the attachments window. Then click each Browse button as desired to select your files. When you're done, click Upload. Wait for the upload to finish, then you can close the popup window. The pictures you selected will be placed as attachments on your post. If you want to put the pictures inline in your post, put the cursor where you want the picture, then click the drop-down arrow next to the paper clip and click the picture you want to insert. Click Submit Reply when you're done, and that's all there is to it.
