How do I make this effect?

Hello everyone.

Could someone tell me how I do this cut iron effect.
I am wanting to apply it to a next model that is the Jagdtiger, but before starting I would like to try to make that effect.

Any suggestion. Use some kind of paper...or another material.
Or anything similar, I just make any like the picture
Thanks

The effect I want is that of the cut metal, as if it were cut in the torch

You can try using sandpaper to rough the edge and surface of the cardstock.

Maybe even dampen the area a little with water then scratch it a bit with the blunt side of an exacto blade or something similar...***

***Disclaimer:surely I don't need to warn you that getting your paper model wet can be kinda dangerous?

Best would be to model with thick / layered card. Cut out the area to a depth, by taking off layers, then fill with some putty and texture the putty to look like welding ripples.

Quickest way: Needle file, several shapes(triangle, round, flat, oval) to file cardstock giving that effect. Different shapes to leave different pattern shape to add to realism. Talking about laminates/Layers of cardstock or one thicker 0.5mm- 1mm piece.

Bought a set almost exactly like this set from Harbor Freight years ago. Not the best for precision part making/fixing on metal, but on paper they work great! Here is a link for some from amazon.

Perhaps you should just send the parts to me for building. A lot of my airplanes look like that.......

What I wonder is... at what scale are you building?
Because many details get lost at certain size... so it's probably not worth the effort if you'll need a microscope to see them.

might be a good option for those parts needing visual relief

something similar might be available in Brazil.

You might need to tear the paper along a jagged metal edge to replicate the cut bottom
