That's very interesting wba....
I have been trawling the forum looking for hints and tips about glue and indeed there are a lot of different opinions about it. To add to that is the variance in what's readily available depending on your part of the world. Seems there are 2 types of PVA, dare I venture to say it on this forum... thick and thin. Also, something similar for PVA - '2 types' - I've used Kittifix and with the large flat sections (that you may find on a ship which is my fascination) and certainly had problems with warping and dimples. Having trawled, seems a lot of people in the US can find Aleenes Tacky, use it a lot and swear by it. So it must yield a better result than Kittifix. I found another brand of PVA - calls itself 'Anitas Tacky PVA'. I wonder basicaly is 'tacky' PVA the thing to have? I havn't tried Anitas or Aleenes. It occurred to me to make the same assembly a few times with the different glues and find out. Went on Amazon - and was blown away by the many different types of 'Tacky Glue' there is, all variations on a theme with their own subtleties I imagine. Question: Where can I get Aleenes Tacky in Europe? I have mailed Aleenes - lets see what they say. |
