cutting mat
I was in the local hobby store this morning and I bought a new cutting mat 18"x12". I was using my wifes old craft cutting mat that she used for her sowing stuff. It was pretty hard on my blades and the paper would always slide. Now I am pretty new to this hobby, only been doing this for not even a full year yet, started out with some free downloads and then on to buying some fiddlers green airplanes. I am having a blast. My first cut on my new cutting map was pure joy, I could tell during the cut that this is what I should have had at the start. Right now I am building the tommy biplane from fiddlers green, and so far every thing is going together fine. My thanks to all on this forum, the advice that I have read here is great and is a big help in my model building. So much so that my little six year old daughter wants to build something. My wife just shakes her head, but hey at least I"m not sitting in a bar somewhere!!!! Everbody, please have a great day. Eric Westfere

sounds good to me and yes a good mat and a bit of confidence is always a good thing in the equipment. I don't know what your wife is mad about letting the young child do something after all your not going to give the child the blade to use start with some small free kit that can be cut with them safety scissors
wow it got posted yesterday I seemed to be on a barring list or something for posts suppose it is the spam like thing i got as the default |

well what would it look like to sit in a bar doing paper modeling :D
there's not much light in the workspace you face the risk of someone spilling out their beverage all over your model after a few beers the risk of injury increases, mainly cutting wounds around the finger regions and it will be very hard to concentrate on the small pieces the optimum model would most likely be a B52 in 1/4 scale as even the small parts are easily found :D:D
