Workshop : Designing without 3d programs

This workshop is about designing very simple models very fast.
In this workshop I will explain how I work by letting you work on your own project.

What we need to start is a 3view of an object, ANY object.

Example of a 3 view :

Now what I need in this thread are participants who have found a object in 3view that they would like to design themselves.

Re: Workshop : Designing without 3d programs

Are we gonna do a Teletubbie ? ;D

Edit: not that it would be a problem, I have a 9 year old daughter and recently had to build her a "Princess Peach"...(dm'n Nintendo ;D )

Re: Workshop : Designing without 3d programs

How complex can you get? Is a biplane possible? Also I am not having much luck finding three views of anything besides planes - anyone have any other link resources?

Re: Workshop : Designing without 3d programs

My son is going through my book on WWII aircraft putting a post it note in each page he likes - we will go through it tonight and see what I can find - the book has three line drawings too but will likely see what I can find online that matches up then use the book for the color

Re: Workshop : Designing without 3d programs

Count me in with the Buffalo.

I had started a Buffalo in meta but got stuck at the normal point of putting wings on the fuselage.

I have a number of colour options for the Buffalo if you need anything.

Cheers JTF

He picked out a blue and yellow color scheme from the book however when done you can do all the recolors you want and we can make a pack if it turns out nice

Re: Workshop : Designing without 3d programs

Chris, you are right about only finding 3views of planes, never realised that ;D maybe cause I only design planes :

Found some choppers though... :P

Biplanes shouldnīt be a problem I guess, would be a nice challenge

O.k, letīs stick to planes then...

Next step :

Open your 3 view with a paint program ( I use MS paint or paint.net )

Copy the planes wings and clean them up by tracing the panel lines in a new layer.

Here is the tailwing :

1 : the copied tailwing

2 : you only have to trace on side of the wing

3 : cleaned wing, you can work with layers or with a eraser if you use ms paint.

4 : cut the wing loose

5 : add glue strip

6 : make a square around the wing for clean back to back glueing :P
leave the glue strip free.

7 : copy and paste and we have a tailwing ;D
