Nice work, Mirco. This approach is quite similar to Harry Woodman's technique - one that I tried without success to adapt to card modeling a number of years ago. I'm glad to see that it does indeed work when properly done!
I would recommend using filament silk thread for the spokes - it has virtually no fuzz, adheres perfectly with white glue and is available in many colors. It will also shrink after being dampened, which is a very useful trait. I find 100wt to be about right for 1/33 scale aeroplane wheels (and rigging). I think your wheels will be quite convincing when finished and colored, and hope to see some good use made of this tutorial. Thanks for sharing! |

Thank you all for your kind comments.
-> Leif: Of course you are right, one of the images is mirrored . I'll fix it by Monday when I get to my computer. And yes, nothing else than normal white glue was used. Thanks for creating the PDF. Personally, I don't like PDFs in general, because they're big, ineditable, hard to resize, blur images etc. and anyone can download or print the HTML version anyway, so I would never make a PDF on my own. Sooo... feel free to do whatever you want, I'm giving you all the rights for PDFing or uploading this thing anywhere . Consider this tutorial a public domain. -> Eric: thank you for the tip.

Excellent tutorial - clear, easy to understand, good pictures, nice technique.
I certainly want to try this, but instead of threat I'll use tippet (of course). Thanks much.
