Boldly glued - lucidly presented - and a beautiful result!

Nice work, Mirco. This approach is quite similar to Harry Woodman's technique - one that I tried without success to adapt to card modeling a number of years ago. I'm glad to see that it does indeed work when properly done!

I would recommend using filament silk thread for the spokes - it has virtually no fuzz, adheres perfectly with white glue and is available in many colors. It will also shrink after being dampened, which is a very useful trait. I find 100wt to be about right for 1/33 scale aeroplane wheels (and rigging).

I think your wheels will be quite convincing when finished and colored, and hope to see some good use made of this tutorial. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you all for your kind comments.

-> Leif: Of course you are right, one of the images is mirrored . I'll fix it by Monday when I get to my computer.

And yes, nothing else than normal white glue was used.

Thanks for creating the PDF. Personally, I don't like PDFs in general, because they're big, ineditable, hard to resize, blur images etc. and anyone can download or print the HTML version anyway, so I would never make a PDF on my own.
Sooo... feel free to do whatever you want, I'm giving you all the rights for PDFing or uploading this thing anywhere . Consider this tutorial a public domain.

-> Eric: thank you for the tip.

Thanks Mirco. I edited the file (mirrored the image) and uploaded it. When it is cleared by admin, it will be available here.

Excellent tutorial - clear, easy to understand, good pictures, nice technique.
I certainly want to try this, but instead of threat I'll use tippet (of course).
Thanks much.

Great job, thanks to both of you: Micro for putting the article together and Leif for creating the PDF.
