Hello Mike!

Very nice. Heating plate and all. First heat it up, then turn it over on hinges, less risk of burning yourself. Ingenious & elegant!

Could that be the B25 main canopy?

Leif

Hi Leif!

Yep, the “filp top” makes for easy and (more importantly) quick use. I made the tops interchangeable with several sizes of openings to hold different sizes of plastic (up to about 8” x 10”). I also made a bed extension (bottom photo) and frame to hold the 11” x 14” sheets of plastic that Micro-Mark carried back then (still does). For that large frame, I envisioned having to heat the whole in a conventional oven then quick plop it on the vac-box and hope for the best ( although I never put the theory into practice):

Something like that.....

Mike

P.S. In your internet travels, stop by the SIG. You may find a thread I started a few weeks ago about Swedish P-51’s of interest.

Mike,
Only you would come up with a vac former that looks like it will survive a nuclear blast with engineering details and quality of workmanship that makes us half Germans jealous! Seriously now.....It's wonderful! It's also good to see you here as well Where have you been hiding these days?

Ron

Hi Ron!

Oh, been here and there, gearing up for the IPMC this weekend. Not much else to report model building wise (boo!). Hope all is well.
