Recolour tutorial for GIMP?

Can anybody advise on a recolour tutorial for GIMP?

I would like to recolour Cessna caravan model.

Never done it before but I guess a flat sided Cessna should be easier to learn on.

Gimp and inkscape

Hello Karl,

i know you asked for a recolouring tutorial in Gimp.
But allow me an advice:
i also started using Gimp, but i soon changed to Inkscape since it is quite more favorable for this kind of work.

With your allowance here is a Link for a youtube Video recolouring with inkscape:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UM7t6n6BrC0

Gimp is very good, but it is pixel based whereas inkscape is vektor based which is quite better for recolouring cardboard models.

If you go on using gimp i would, beside that give Inkscape a try too, it's worth it!

Yours sincerely

The Oldenburger's right!

I second his view - if you are starting out give Inkscape a go rather for repainting.....

After trying Gimp I switched to Inkscape and have had a lot of fun trying to learn it. It’s complicated but there are tutorials. In the US your library card may give access to Lynda.com and the extensive course on Inkscape. I appreciate (as a beginner) that I can do a little or a lot with Inkscape and can back out of mistakes with no harm done.

Hello Karl,

i suppose you won't regret using inkscape.

Beside that, learning a new software without screaming and cursing is no good software ;-)))

Here is a mighty tutorial:
