Hello papermodelers,

I made a video of how I create a 3D model for papermodelling

Part 1 - 3D modelling with SketchUp using a plain picture

Making a 3D model from picture for paper model Part 1 - YouTube

Part 2 - Dissecting the 3d model and Unfolding in Pepakura

Finally!!!!!

I just watched one of your videos. Finally there is a video that makes sense to me! Having less than a pre school understanding of the softwares( having grown uo in the "dark ages" of the 1950s long before computers) you were useing I was able to get an expoinentially greater understanding of just how one uses them. Thankyou! I was under the misconception for years that Pekakura was simply something one downloadded a basic jpeg photo into and then magically it would flatten it out ready to print and construct.

I had no idea there were so many steps in between. I guess that comes from simply having an incrediably niave idea of just how it was supposed to work. To me it was like "DUH, of course you need to more than that", but no one ever mentioned it before today. LOL! Thank again.

Thank’s for watching!

There’s actually an easy way to unfold 3d model in SketchUp, it’s an additional plugin specially for unfolding, the only downside is that, once you transfer the unfolded 3d model in pepakura it doesnt have the fold line, by the way my knowledge in 3d modeling is just basic.

Excellent tutorial, I remember that I started many years ago with the SketchUp program and switched to Blender, I only know the basics, but your tutorial has helped me to start my project of the Flying fox Batman ship from the movie Zack Snyder Justice Legue.
Greetings.
