Can't you operate some kind of emulation program that allows you to run Windows programs? I know several people who do this with other software.

Ref Macs in industry, as far as my own employer is concerned, we ditched a bunch of G3s and G4s last year; and I mean ditched them. We couldn't even give them away. We now run exclusively on PC workstations, with a Linux server. There were lots of reasons why this happened which I can't go into here, but our IT issues have been much more straightforward ever since! And I can assure you, no computer look beautiful when it is in a rubbish bin..... It was a crying shame.

Running an emulation system is a possibility I've been looking into. But, as an Artist, I prefer the Macs for a variety of reasons that we don't need to go into now. I like Macs. They fit my personality better.

I'm not interested in a "who's machine is better" war, I just want the freedom to use the machine I love. So I can run along with the rest of you in the papermodeling world.. : )

Both systems work well for the purposes for which they were designed. And I'm not a follower of either religion.

Anyway, for those of you who are using SketchUp, lookee what I found!

I have recently discovered a plugin script you can add to SketchUp that allows you to unfold the objects from within SketchUp itself. You have to do it face by face, but it works. You'll need to export it as a jpg or a tiff to be able to use the file in other, 2D programs like Illustrator or Photoshop. The plugins can be found here...

Ah, I see what you mean now!!! Dont 'Save...' the model, Export... it, and when you get to the window where you name your file, look at the 'Export type' drop-down box at the bottom, and make sure you select Google Earth 4 (.kmz), not the other type. Pepakura will open the file perfectly well then!

Hope this helps,

Tim

A digression, but it's nice to see you again, Tim. Are you still building kipperboxes?

...Tim and gert, you guys made me interested in using sketchup just for this thread! I'll sure give it a try...!

--And PS, I'm not seeing Macs being used widely in Japanese online community at all... Maybe that's the reason >_<
