Dang! and my supply of frogs just ran out!

Seriously, though...using a brush to create a dotted line for rivets is a great idea. I know how to do that too. I guess I just never really sat down and thought out the entire process of doing a repaint/re-draw.

Thanks- I'm looking forward to any tips and tutorials you have in the future.

Excellent results and technique - you are certainly a pro at this. I realize I have so much to learn - and look forward to doing so.

Thanks, Mauri. "Getting started" would be most helpful. Some of us wannabe's (like me) are total neophytes, and have gotten badly hung up on just that point. Will older versions of Photoshop do it?

Hi,
Thanks for the compliments... been using Photoshop since it's first release back in 1990, so I better be a pro at this point! :D

Tha'ts exactly what I do... I trace them all :p. It takes only a few hours in this simple FG models...
But realizing most of you cannot afford to buy or spend the time to learn how to re-trace a whole model, I will make a quick tutorial on how to do that simply using the original B/W versions that CHip gracefully throws in with almost all the models.

Wouldn't it be easier to copy it to 3 different layers and delete what you don't want?

It would depend on what software you were using and how much control you want over the project if you need to do any more alterations.

Working with rastor information has limitations while vector information (tracing the lines with vectors) allows for scale adjustments without losing details.

Hi,
Well, for me it is easier to redraw instead of using the otherwise perfectly correct technique of having 3 repeated layers an delete on each one what you don't want. But of course if you cannot use vector based programms, then the deleting technique is your only option.
This technique is easy if we consider the difficulty involved, but it is painfully slow and it always leaves many imperfections here and there. The last drawback is that you cannot improve the original (by changing the width of the outline, for example) as you remain tided to what the original designer did.
So when I redraw all, I have the possibility to make the exterior lines wider than the interior ones, and so on. Still another advantage is that if I have control over the lines, I can also fill them at will (color, shading, etc.).

Hope this helps, thanks so much for your interest. I will make a tutorial with the "3 layers & delete" technique not far in the future.
