The Chilton DW.1/1 is a British light sporting monoplane designed and built 1937 by two ex de Havilland Technical School students. The aircraft was intended to be cheap to build and operate, yet have an exceptional performance on low power. This was derived from its aerodynamically clean design.
The kit is a rescaling to the common HO scale 1/87. It was made from a now extinct free download 1/72 original model by Jan Legrand. The kit is made to print on 5x7 in. large picture postcard photo paper. Parts have been spaced out to make cutting easier. Only the two last pages of the kit need to be printed on photo paper, 170-200g/m2, to print both versions (one sheet A4 or Letter, two kit pages per printed page makes for ample margins). For more about this and similar models, see the thread "Reworking aircraft models by other authors into 1/87 scale". |
