Older Swamp Foxes!
157th FS/169/FW, South Carolina ANG, switched in 1983 from the A-7D Corsair II to the then relatively recent F-16A/B block 10 (they were around 3 or 4 years old). Parts 1 covers the early markings from the mid-80ies (SC tail codes and ANG badge on the fin). I chose to give them AIM-9J/P because the only pic I have of an armed F-16 in these markings clearly shows that version. Part 2 covers the late 80ies and early 90ies. The squadron was deployed to Saudi Arabia in december 1990 and fought in operation Desert Storm. That's why I added an AN/ALQ-119 jammer pod on the single seater. I call it an Ersatz because it's really an AN/ALQ-184 modified to look like the earlier pod. The Sidewinders are the L/M version (live version for the single-seater). Other stores (and fuel tanks) may come later. This is a redraw/recolor of Bruno's 1:300 F-16 rescaled to 1:200. There's a build thread here (in french). T |
