The first 42 or so F-15A and TF-15A were delivered painted in air superiority blue. Starting from F-15A 73-0100 and TF-15A 74-0137 the default camo switched to 2 grays, the so-called "Compass Ghost Grey" scheme. The previous examples kept their blue for a while before being repainted.
This blue F-15A belongs t the 555th TFTS that was then part of the 58th TTW, based at Luke AFB in Arizona. The wing was responsible for training the F-15 pilots in the the 1970ies. In the same time frame some of the wing's Eagles and Phantoms were painted with colorful "invasion" stripes. They were collectively known as the "Candy Cane Air Force". The second F-15A is one of those colorful planes. The 405th TTW took over F-15 training in August 1979 and the 555th was transfered to that wing. These are recolors of Scissorsandplanes's F-15 Eagle in 1:300. Now with landing gear! Edit 2020-08-03: I replaced the files. The tail band is positioned slighly lower so you can cut out just above to insert the ECM blisters. There are a few other minor updates. |
