The Huygens probe (modeled at 1:12 scale) soft landed on the surface of Saturn's moon Titan in 2005, making it the most distant man-made object on the surface of a planet or moon. Huygens transmitted pictures of the surface of Titan from beneath the moon's obscuring clouds. Pictures of the surface show normal-looking terrain, except the "air" is mostly nitrogen, the "rocks" are water ice, the "water" is liquid methane and ethane (natural gas), and the "dirt" is made up of complex organic molecules (tar?).
