It might be old but it's new to us! And the best part is that it's a Wallis Rigby design. The parts that house the rubber motor and propeller seem to be missing though.

Hi all...

It's been almost four years since our friend Patricia at Agence Eureka posted the model of the Pioneer Aero-Car, and I thought it time to present a built-up model. The original image is a bit rough, but over the years, someone (I'm sorry I can't say who) has cleaned up the image and it is this restoration I used for my model. It's a pretty straight forward build but look out for the area around the windshield. The photo shows my second attempt at the model, as my first got all gummed up, windshield-wise. I really like the artwork on the wheels, and I made extra copies so I could cover all the visible surfaces. I wanted to be able to drive it, so it rides on threaded brass axles secured by brass nuts. It's a really fun Rigby Roller.

Score and fold,

Thumb Dog

Wonderfully done. Is that balsa that you used to reinforce things?

Hi Vermin King,

I generally use picture frame mat board as a stiffener in my card modeling projects. True, there is some warping of the parts after the water based glue dries, but it's usually pretty easy to straighten things out. If balsa or basswood warps, it seems the warp is set for good.

And VK, thanks for the "Go Advanced" advice concerning my picture posting problem. Looks like our timing was just right.

Score and fold,

Thumb Dog

I think that with three more posts, you will be able to ignore that work-around.

On the other hand, that's how I usually post ...

Beautiful clean job. Probably the finest build of this model since it was designed.
