First book on paper modeling?
A friend recently sent me this link to a very interesting blog post on what is probably the first book on designing paper models, Papyro-plastics, or the art of modelling in paper, from 1824.
52 Weeks of Historical How-To’s, Week 46: How to Make Paper Models | Echoes from the Vault It's too bad there aren't more images from the book, but perhaps one of our Scottish paper modelers could go by the library and make some copies? |

Had a quick look at some book searching engines. Two copies for sale, for the serious hobbyist - only ca. 250 USD each: Books found

Really! And the second copy is in British pounds, so closer to $500. I guess I'm not as serious as I thought I was...

No need buying it, it's on Google Books. And it's the second edition which is nice because the first edition had errors in design as the author himself says in the foreword for the second edition.
Look here for the book. Tappi |
