the circus automata (horse acrobats)

I think this one-sheet model came from this folder, if someone has the link please post. I couldn't quite figure out the gear supports so I made up my own. I also soaked the gears in crazy glue and turned them into hard plastic.

That was one sheet? Looks good. I have only done one automata model and it could have been much better. If I do another, I will have to remember to harden the gears

What a cool model! Nice cutting and assembly work!

Do you think you could add some LED "spotlights"? And maybe a micro-speaker, so you could play an appropriate mp3 (crowd sounds, music)?

I love vintage models, thank you for sharing the photos!

oh I like that idea. I've been using he wall plug phone chargers from the $1 store and attaching wires to pins 1 and 4 to get a 5v power supply for supplying leds. I could easily put in a red and blue one up above aimed down, that 's a great idea. I've got some 30ga wire around here somewhere...

That turned out pretty good.
You should try the carousel from here:
Wordpress Toy Shop Paper Automata
You will need to color it, but it does look good when working. For some reason they have the horses going backwards in the video.

Ha! Wonderful!

If you could install the lights and sound module ... and find a film with a traditional circus scene ... calliope music and a crowd ... "Oooooh ... AHH!! (applause)" ... record ten seconds of that onto the audio module ... !

Could you install a switch hidden on the rear, to surprise and delight the unsuspecting?

I will build a trapezoid base and put all he switches, batteries in that so no wiring will be visible. I did the same thing for a menorah and christmas tree I build for work for the holidays:
