My first six models were from Patricia's Flickr site, but I have not seen this one. It is beautifully made.

Hi All,

And hi, davetun. Sorry I missed your recent post. Thanks for your kind words. The model usually sits atop a curio cabinet in our living room, but it gets moved out of the way for holiday frou-frou. It will be awhile before it returns to its rightful place.

You mentioned Patricia's excellent Flickr site, and in case you and other interested parties don't know, her site known as Agence Eureka is, to my mind, a more easily navigated path through her vast collection of ephemera.

Score and fold,

Thumb Dog

Very cool model. Those figures look to be from about 1850-60 I'm guessing?

There is a lot of surviving houses sort of like that from that period in S.Ontario.Most of them are farm/estate houses so proportions are slightly different but yes, that was the fashion of the era.

Here is one in my town-Historic Bovaird House in Brampton.

Hi All,

And hi, Patricia and Vermin King, I've been away for awhile.

And hi, Butelczynski. Yes, I agree with you, the fashions on the figures indicate that this model might well be 125 to 150 years old. That these simple drawings could last this long to be enjoyed today is one of the reasons I like building and describing vintage paper models.

Thanks for the photograph, too. I couldn't help but be struck by the similarity between your Bovaird House and the Abraham Lincoln House in Springfield, Illinois. It seems some classics last forever.

Score and fold,
