What are paper models?
Two nights ago I went to PechaKucha 39 here in Chicago. For those of you who don't know what a PechaKucha is (which included me until I did one), it's a form of presentation that was originated not so long ago by a group of architects in Japan.
The word means "chit chat" and the show consists of 20 slides with each slide being visible for 20 seconds. 6 and a half minutes later you're done. Back in March I gave my first PechaKucha on my obsession with vintage paper models including much I had learned here on the Forum. You can see the presentation here. Any and all feedback is welcome. Hi Tom,
Nice to hear your voice and see your picture, too. We operate in a rather anonymous world, here on these pages. I had never heard of PechaKucha before. I like the fact that the rules are simple, yet strict. The best communication comes about when boundaries are set and adhered to. Always nice to see a number of models I had never seen before, too. Very nice and useful presentation.
I've had several cases where I mention paper models and people respond with: "is that like origami frogs or something?" I've come to realize that a huge amount of people simply have no idea of the real power of paper.
