Gotta love that lift-to-weight ratio! Happy Havirel Tools!

Had a good chuckle after reading your post. When I saw your post I went straight to it. You're probably the best writer on this forum. Nice model too. btw.

Hi All,

Just a quick thank you to all who enjoyed and commented on my An-2DR thread. A visit to Haveril will reveal the true meaning of the word Haveril.

The triplane was based on the November, 1959 issue of Maly Modelarz's An-2, one of the oldest of the MM line. It was a bear to build, but the final product will be fun to have on the shelf. The wing span is 17 1/2 inches, so it will need to be the big shelf.

And to douglasmarrel who wanted it to be real, here you go...

Score and fold,

Thumb Dog

Your brilliantly-conceived and beautifully-written post accompanied by an actual paper model that clearly took considerable time and effort to produce reminded me of one of my own April Fool escapades at the U.S. Army War College several years ago.

I crafted an essay on the teaching of strategic planning doctrine using the controversial "Schartz-Metterklume method." I included enough endnote references to real-sounding but fictitious publications and genuine doctrinal jargon to give it the aura of superficial plausibility. Most of my colleagues got a laugh out of it, but the Director of Strategic Planning read it hastily just before heading off to a conference on the teaching of doctrine. Apparently he had never read anything by H.H. Munro and introduced my mock essay as a serious topic for discussion. He returned to the office with blood in his eye, transfixed me with a steely gaze, and said through clenched teeth, "Don't you ever do anything like that again!"

Many thanks for a memorable Havirel Tools episode and a subsequent trip down memory lane.

Don

Hi All,

And hi, Don. Thanks for your kind comments both past and present. It's more than interesting to hear about the japes and shenanigans that go on at the U.S. Army War College. I'm glad you didn't find yourself in Greenland.

An in-depth discussion of the Sabine Women is probably inappropriate for this forum, so we'll leave it at the threshold of the "Schartz-Metterklume Method."

Funny stuff.

Score and fold,

Thumb Dog

But surely you know that this one-off was later converted back to being a biplane
