Allers Familie Journal Hansel and Gretel
I finished the Hansel and Gretel incense burner model from Allers Familie Journal. All of the parts fit OK.
Smoke 1 Smoke 2 Gretel and witch Cooking pot There is a diagonal insert with the cooking pot graphics that is placed in the corner of the house. Hansel in cage You can kind of see the poor fellow looking out between the wood bars.

Hi All,
And hi, SCEtoAUX. Well done on your H&G incense burner. It's nice to see smoke coming out of the chimney. Which do you use...sandalwood or frankincense? Score and fold, Thumb Dog |

The box of cones has Myrrh as the type.
Makes me want to dig out my Ravi Shankar LPs.

Looks great. Incense gets pretty hot - watch out.

Thank you for showing this. Terrific build. Vintage models are my favorites by far (says the person who doesn't do a lot of building).

Some more pictures.
This is the house taken off of the incense burning feature showing Gretel and the witch and the placement of Hansel This is the Hansel side of things. The cage goes over him when the house is placed over the incense burning feature. This is the underside of the house showing the smoke stains around the chimney opening The incense cone is placed on a metal washer wrapped in aluminum foil. There is an air space between the bottom of the metal washer and the card to sort of help prevent happy accidents. I have some rock wool somewhere that would do a better job of insulating but I gotta find it. Meanwhile the metal washer and aluminum foil is doing the job. This is the diagonal insert of the cooking pot on the fire. You will notice some coloring done on the unprinted side of the cardstock. I did that to hide the white which would be a distraction. I even rememberd to color the back side of the tabs used to attach the figures and the roof of the cage. The stone pillar just outside of the cooking pot insert needs to be colored on the back also.

Hi All,
And hi, SCEtoAUX. Thanks for the second set of photographs. I always like to look behind the scenes to see how something works. The smoke stains, coloring under the eaves and the metal base for the incense are all interesting to see. I've been looking for a tiny earthenware or porcelain dish to hold my incense, but no luck so far. My photo from the Strange Red Car thread shows my cone sitting in a white, plastic holder. There's no need to worry about melting it, as the incense cone in the picture is just a prop, made out of colored paper. Because of this, I haven't tested my model yet, but someday...
