That came out very nice. I started cleaning it up and adjusting colors, and I made a total mess of it. I might have to try again
BTW, that's how I pictured doing stairs on the Swiss Village on the one side

That technique would probably work to make the stairs in the mountain village more 3D.
I cleaned it up by using an old version of photoshop I have. Adobe Photoshop CS2 Version 9. Image>Duplicate to make a copy to work on. Then Image>Adjustments >Auto Levels, and >Auto Color to get rid of the color cast, then played with the Brightness/Contrast sliders and the Color Balance sliders to tweak it some.

Hi All,
And hi, Doug. That's a handsome pair of models you've recently posted here. Your AFJ Mountain Village was more intricate than I imagined by just looking at the model's page, and today's offering looks like a nice place for a weekend getaway. The only "castle-on-a-rock" model I've built was the Usborne Cut-Out Models Wizard's Castle. I made it for an appreciative wizard I know. While I'm busy with other projects right now, after seeing your models, I might give them a try. Score and fold, Thumb Dog |

Go ahead and give them a try. The old knight castle has an interesting structure for the sides of the mountain and the stairs. It was a nice puzzle to figure out.

Echoes from the past.
The model page is from a magazine published in 1920 and can be found here: https://www.plu.edu/archives/allers-familie-journal/ Allers Familie Journal 1920 Vol 44, Jan 15 on the last page. Yep, Kevin, looks like cleaning those windows would be fun. That is what peasants and JO's are for.

Hi,
I like making these old models. Maybe it's the scans or it's the way they were originally drawn, but some of them do not go together well, for me anyway. |
