Micromodels Cotton Blossom

Hello,

Its been some time since I posted. The Micromodels Cotton Blossom was first published in 1951. I am using a USA Micromodels reprint which I have scanned and recolored to more accurately reflect the livery she was painted in while filming Show Boat. I plan on adding many scratch built parts as on my other Micromodels.

Here is the Hull and my work area. I will use a fine drafting pencil to suggest decking and planking.

Hi Elliot,

We are fans of the movie (and all MGM musicals) as well.

Here is the Boiler Deck in place. I've modified both the bow and the stern to more closely resemble the real Cotton Blossom.

Here is the paddle wheel in place. Ive made several duplicate hubs and spokes to assemble a wheel thats more accurate.

I've also made a larger wheel splash guard.

Holy smokes this brings back memories. It was one of Lamar Hunt's most valuable possessions, and was proudly displayed at Worlds of Fun. Cedar Fair LP bought the park in 1995 and after the season closed, they demolished it.

Elliott:It was a whole other story about the difficulties he encountered in purchasing and moving the old girl to the park.

Well, now you are all caught up, this is how she sits tonight. I've finished the accommodation and texas decks, including the ships boats and davits. Built the bracing and rigged it and installed the derricks, stages (thats what the gangways on river boats were called), the fore mast and light.

One of my favorite restaurants was on the upper deck. It was like St. Louis Worlds Fair food. Hot dogs, ice cream cones, root beer floats. All with a Dixieland band playing.

I actually thought Cedar Point's owners buying the park would be a good thing, but hey, I'm a guy, so I was wrong again

One thing I'm not wrong about is that this is a great build
