Churchyard
Here is a completed vintage model of a churchyard.
I cut out the blank window panes and glued some stained glass window graphics behind the windows then glued some velum behind the stained glass. I tried it without the velum but it was too much light shining through. The velum difuses the light just right. The light source is a small LED flashlight (torch), the same one I used to illuminate the lighthouse in a previous vintage model. I do not remember the source. It is a model that had been sitting around half finished for months upon months upon months. Now that it is finished I have an empty space that needs to be filled. The information on one of the sheets reads: Quote:
Christmas Eve in the Village Church Model map for Illumination. (See page 30 saint Text on page 33). A small illustration on one of sheets shows a candle behind the model being used for illumination. I guess they did not have LED light sources back then. This is one down from stacks of printed payed for and free models that I have stashed throughout the house. One down, a googolplex to go.

Yeah, it does.
I just did an auto-detect thing in Google Translate and it came up with Frisian. Thanks for pointing that out, Rick.

I love it. Very Currier and Ivesy.

OK, I found the source where I acquired the model pages.

Very nice. To be enjoyed with a cup of strong Frisian tea and a plate of Fryske Dumkes while reading The Riddle of the Sands.

What a stunning little model Doug. Really really good.
The artwork on the model is very evocative of the real thing - which makes me wonder if the artist had a real church in mind in mind when he drew the model up!
