Sergio Toppi Saloon for 30mm RPGs
Very early in my paper model experience, I came across Toppi's Tutto sul West series out of Corriere dei Piccoli magazine from the sixties. I adore the gritty feel of his playsets. Here are two I put together for this project.
Several times I thought I would try to combine these to make a Saloon, and I finally did it. Except for the tarpaper roof, the whole thing involves only Toppi art. I just thought I would try to do this as a tribute to his artwork. A What-If situation. Could it be done in such a way that it looks like Toppi designed it himself?

But as I said, I am combining the two playsets for 30mm RPGs, so it needs to be playable.
Cowboyleland over at Cardboard Warriors did most of these figures with backs. I turned the bar 'screen' into a bar and the piano and player into a figure and piano. You can follow the development at https://cardboard-warriors.proboards...saloon-kitbash You can download Toppi's Il Saloon at onemonk.com

Very cool! Are you going to furnish the upper room as well?

I thought about it, but this month's theme is Cyberpunk, and I want to do something off the Cybertruck for the Hoard and the CP Kawasaki, https://www.bing.com/images/search?q...ki&FORM=HDRSC2
I doubt I will come back to the upstairs. April is when I have to have my Rialto Bridge done, so I wanted to do a couple quick projects for Cyberpunk, and get on to the big project. I am still wondering how to engineer it to support itself. I might be worrying needlessly, though

That saloon looks really good. Nice way to set up for some RPGs.
There are some nice Forum Hoards in the queue at onemonk.

Figuring out the Hoards for each year is a fun project. I enjoy seeing what folks come up with for ideas. Some ideas take off and turn into really wonderful collections. Others not so much. And just because folks jump on board in the topics discussion, doesn't mean they contribute. And some ideas that should be great just fizzle and die. No rhyme or reason to it.
Looking back, I should have designed it so that at least one wall could be dropped for better access, but I am fairly pleased with it.

For some reason I'm thinking of "Blazing Saddles" and I haven't seen that film in years.
Thank you |
