Vintage D0-18

Here is the Do-18 that Pucara kindly posted.
Caproni CA-97

The wings were too short, or the fuselage was too long. But wait this is not a polymer nor resin. It is paper. Fixed easily, print the main parts and the wing 20% larger. I try different methods like enlarging the length and not the width but ended enlarged the hole model 120%. Not a lot of ink in a tiny model.
I tried to print in two different silverized papers but the ink from my printer did not hold. Regrettably, I build it in plain photo paper.
I also noted that the main post for the wing was too tall. I clipped like a third (I did not measure it).
The partial model look as a squalus, a set of wings. The smaller one corresponds to a fuselage at 1/400. The companion is the JSC Wal reduced 25% that I build long time ago.

Old models can be a lot of fun.

They can be frustrating sometimes but scaling them down usually hides nicely all imperfections.Add infinite possibilities of digital format and they can be made int little gems like this.

Very nice effect.Excellent work.

It came out great. Unfortunately, getting all the parts to fit on one page of paper sometimes takes precedence over true scale.

Very strange wingshape. It looks like a Heinkel, rather than a Dornier. I notice "Mr. RAPI" labeled the design Aircraft Type Aeolus rather than Do-18. I wonder, was that to avoid the rivet counters, copyright lawsuits, or just for fun. I am not familiar with RAPI designs - are they all so fanciful?

The "Aeolus" was one of two Do-18s that underwent endurance testing on September, 11 & 12 1936. She flew from Horta in the Azores to Hamilton, Bermuda in 18 hrs, 15 mins and from Hamilton to New York the following day. She flew a south Atlantic mail route until being damaged beyond repair in an emergency water landing and attempted recovery on July 30, 1937. For some reason, RAPI used incorrect identification codes for the model. Aeolus was D-ABYM.

I think it was more a marketing / production descision.

Yes I noticed.

I agree, I made a "corrected" wing but did not attempt to correct the id codes.
I also added some extra parts, I don't know which one would fit better
The model is at 1/100 and later I would like to do in silverized paper.

ps: I just noticed that the files were reduced, if someone wants the corrected size to 1/100 send me a PM.
