New Vintage Newspaper Cut Out

Finally, after a long hiatus I've posted a new vintage Dan Rudolph newspaper cut-out to my Flickr. The images below are lower resolution images of the before and after.

What fun! Thanks for sharing. What newspaper, do you suppose? And is the date 1921? Grouchy is 99 years old.

The Atlanta Constitution on December 11th, 1921. Also, in the Syracuse Herald on April 16, 1922. The Atlanta Constitution version was less dark, retaining more detail, so that's the one I cleaned up.

I also have two originals tucked away. They are from the San Francisco Examiner - One of them is an easter bunny and I don't remember the other one or the dates.

Thank you for this, Alomentis. You've done a wonderful job cleaning up this scan. I've downloaded it and will color at some point. Years ago I colored one of these vintage automatas. It's in the download section if anyone is interested. The subject is Jack Dempsey, the famous heavyweight boxing champion. I chose to do it because my grandfather was a great fan of his.

I love these cut-outs. So where in my files I have a blacksmith one that I carefully colored in PS. I’ve yet to build it, though.

I have 41 (42 if I include Grouchy) that I filed under LA Times Pantin Puppets in a pdf. The inventory sheet also has this notation: Junior Times Section ca. 1922-1923. There is also a reference to Barnacle Press.
I have been searching but cannot seem to locate where I got them from.

Here is a video of Oscar the Owl that I built many years ago.

They are still on the Barnacle Press Website. They are also all in my Flickr album. I can create a PDF if anyone is interested. Let me know.

rockpaperscissors, I remember your recolors. Also PaperPino did a recolor of the Santa Clause and his reindeer one a few years back for Christmas.
