Greetings
Hello....i am from Ohio and have been a modeler for many, many years! Initially and to a lesser degree to this day is styrene kits. Than i started scratch building from balsa, fiberglass and of course styrene-RC ships. Got into rc aircraft in scratchbuilt and kit form. Now....Its the paper medium of model building. I have enjoyed viewing the many, many works of art here and respect all of you for your incredible work. I have built a few items, downloadable kits from published sources. A Mercury and gemini capsule so far but have my eye on a few bigger items as well. i just ordered and recieved the Unseen University booklet/kit and look forward to doing something there! Again..Greetings to all.

Welcome aboard Ohio Mike. Like many here, we started with plastic models. My first models were the ones made by Aurora. Scratched built in Styrene and Balsa wood. Found paper and love it. Way more economical than plastic and more forgiving. As soon as you feel comfortable, post some photos of your works. Enjoy and see you around the forums.
Oh, by the way, if you are the Ohio Mike from the other site, Zealot. I posted a link to the LOR buildings there for you. |

Hello Neighbor,
I live in Sheffield Lake and taught at Midview, 1970 - 1972. There is another papermodeler in Wellington but his name escapes me at the moment. My paper models are mainly 1/72 scale armor for wargames. Although, I have also done some 1/35 scale vehicles which were also used in wargames. Looking forward to hearing more about your models. Thank you folks...near and far! I have tons of those 1/72 "plastic" (forgive me) tanks, etc., around for the same reason. buried in a box somewhere. I originally got into the paper modeling thing because i thought it would be a great idea to use the paper patterns for a larger RC project....then i started likeing the idea of just makeing paper models for what they were. For me modeling has always been a appreciation and enjoyment of the world that i couldnt participate in for whatever reason, eg., model ships, couldnt be a captain of the real thing. Space craft, couldnt go there my self, etc., and on and on. It has brought me joy as in sure it has for the rest of you! Thanks again for the welcome!
