silhouette cutters?
The welcome note encourages us to introduce ourselves. I am interested mainly in warbirds, some train backgrounds, and lighthouses, of course.
Here is an F4U i drew, the most exciting thing is the gull wing joint, anyone else have success with this? I have a Sillhouette USB paper cutting peripheral, so far only used it for the FG Piper Cub, though. Anyone else use these? |

Ref Cutter
I own the Silhouette SD cutter and it is good for making parts for white models and beta work, but is not accurate enough to follow the outlines of paper modeling work. I use Adobe Illustrator and have the plug in for this cutter and have not been able to get it to line up on cuts. I love the cutter, and had high hopes for it, but it is no match for a steady hand and a razor knife. I have used all the alignment settings which cut right on the marks every time, but the software seems unable to follow the patterns in the modeling.

Obviously the cutters are not so popular. I always considered that the registration problems would mean enlarging the skin paints so the cuts did not have to match exactly. Perhaps most people enjoy their scissors (or x-acto knives) just too much to give them up. There are days when scissors are my great calming.
Thanks for the welcome. |
