Hello! Any freelance modellers out there?

Hi folks,

My name's Eugene and I'm actually working for a digital creative agency, looking for someone to help us with project - I apologise now if this is contravening your forum rules - I'm simply after a talented paper modeller to perhaps do a little freelance for us. I'll explain.

I'm a designer, modeller (not paper thus far) and DIY-have-a-goer so massively fascinated by some of the incredible work you guys do. We work with some interesting clients and I've been trying to get paper-model project off the ground for a while and we've now got a project where this might fit the bill.

In a nut-shell, we need a paper model made of a robot that members of the public can download and make themselves. Detail-wise it'd need to be similar in complexity to this one I found on Google Images:

It'll need to be relatively detailed and at the moment I'm just doing some research to see if such a project is even feasible from a time/cost point of view.

Anyhoo, I hope I've not put anyone's back up, soliciting for help like this!

I'd love to hear from anyone who may be able to help.

Is this a paying job?
Are you supplying the basic robot design?
Articulated? or fixed pose?

I think Dave has asked all the right questions. I would be interested if it is already a 3d model. If not this would be a big task. Also what are the deadlines.

In a nutshell, 3D Maya model will be provided as reference, this is a paying job so I'm after quotes and no articulation required, though a 'nice to have', delivery of all instructions and sheets in about 6 weeks time

I know, speaking for myself, I can only deliver ready to print artwork and Instructions*.
It would be up to you to arrange the actual printing and production of the Model Kit.

Although you did originally state "a paper model made of a robot that members of the public can download and make themselves"?

But, in only six weeks time? Less, if you still need to arrange printing?

Thats definitely not enough time for me!

ps you might need to post the Robot design or allow potential designers to view the design, for the purposes of supplying a quote.

...and you might have to provide more than MAYA artwork. I'm not sure how many use the program... (I don't) ...so it would be difficult to work from.

6 wks! That will be a full time job redesigning and unfolding a mecha 40~50 maybe even 60 hrs wk. If I don't have a day job I may take on that. Now I'll just sit on the sideline and watch.
