Zero...I came across your web site while looking for some other info and thought it was interesting. I have an engineering/drafting background that should be helpful. Any suggestions for first attempts?

welcome to the forum as what to go for, for that first build I would suggest one of the free downloads from here there is bound to be a build thread on one of them to look at at get tips from as you build.

Welcome! Check out the downloads here (tabs, top right). If you have an area of interest (aircraft, architecture, etc.) check out the Links tab for a wide variety of sites with free downloads.
Fiddlersgreen.net also has some free downloads and their selection is a great place to start.
