Just wanted to say 'hello'. I'm a new member and I briefely wanted to introduce myself. I've built a lot of paper models in my childhoot like as airplanes, spaceships and normal ships.

After conclusion the NASA Shuttle program last summer with the last Atlantis-Mission (STS-135), I started my first Real Space Modeling project dedicated to the beginning of the legendary space shuttle era before more than 30 years:

I was inspired to this major project by similar space modeling projects in the German forum Raumfahrer.net.

To be built is the Launch Pad 39A with Launch tower, Shuttle stack, as well as Mobile launcher platform (MLP) and Crawler transporter (CT). Basic module for my project is thereby the Revell Plastic model kit 4911 "Launch Tower & Space Shuttle & Booster Rockets" (1:144).

For building MLP and Crawler I use the Paper model kits (1:144) by David Maier from EDU-Craft Deversions .

First part of my project is the MLP platform. By the way I've intended, to build not everything of paper from the kit. The base frame of the MLP I will build of Balsa wood, and additional small parts and armatures as well as pipes, railings and stairs I will scratch build of plastic sheet or metal. Thus my build is not a pure paper modelers project, but a mixed project. But I hope, you're nevertheless interested in it.
