Hello All

My name is Gregg, and I live in the U.S. I am new to trying to build models from card. a friend from the model boat club I am in got me interested in card modeling, he has shown me some great models he has built. but he has moved and so I am on my own. I do have a couple of questions. 1. What model would be a good starter? Prefer a model I can download. 2. what printer should I get the ones I have tried leave streaks on the parts (Dark color lines) Thanks Gregg

Welcome.

I'd explore this site and look for a couple models that are fairly low part numbers. Papercraft Museum, Museum | PaperCraft Museum, has a search system where you can search by category, by number of pages, or number of parts. That was very handy when I got started.

In the Found on the Internet section there are a number of sites that link to downloads throughout the net.

And definitely check out the model build threads here. Sometimes a more complex model that you can follow along with someone else's build photos and text is easier than a simple model with little or no instructions.

Welcome aboard,

Assuming you wish to build ship models Digital Navy http://www.digitalnavy.com/ has several excellent free models. The Destroyer escort is good for a beginner.

Any photo quality printer will do the job, though most of us have a preference for Epson printers. Use 67 lb card stock for your models it is the thickness of a business card. You can find it at Wal-Mart or any of the office supply stores.
