Hello from a New Member!

Hi all,

New to the group and hoping to learn a lot about this fine craft of paper models.I've been a plastic model builder most of my life (first one in 1967) & I have dabbled a few times with card models.I feel it's time to get away from all the paint fumes (and hassle) and venture forth into card modelling once again.

Cheers,
Douglas

Welcome to the forum, Douglas

Glad you found us. Paper models can be quite a challenge, if your used to plastic.

Familiar story. Welcome aboard. Don't be shy, post your first model so we can all follow. I have found that plastic modelers do very well in this medium becasue they already have a detailed eye

Thanks Bionic...In the process of getting tools & supplies together.I've attempted card modeling in the past, but always seem to make the rookie mistake of picking way too complex models to work on.I'll make sure to start off with some really simple projects this go around.

Cheers,
Douglas

Welcome. You are already onto one of the big problems that folks new to the hobby fall into, getting in over their heads. What type of models interest you? Maybe we can point you in the right direction.

I statrted with Alan Rose Titanic. But I don't recommend that. When I resumed modeling many years later I started with the space models. I built a simple Redstone that I still have today. I think it was a good place to start because you learn a lot of skills quickly, paper rolling, shaping tubes, seams, creases cutting folding the whole nine years (by the way anyone know where thatexpression came from?)
