Another noob.
A quick hello from York, UK. I'm a life long modeller, and have touched, at various times, many aspects and branches of the hobby. Railways, aircraft (free flight and control line, then rc), powered and static marine stuff, slot cars Card modelling is something I've returned to occasionally over the years. never very ambitiously.
I'd guess that the internet has given a big boost to this hobby, especially regarding the ease with which models can be downloaded. And I'm astonished by the generosity of designers who make their products available, at little or no cost. I recently watched, on the tube, a fascinating video of Johan Scherft demonstrating the amount of work which went into his production of a gorgeous kingfisher model. And then he gave it away. Free! Amazing. The 'net also gives an opportunity to see what others are doing, and opens up the possibilities of the medium. Since retirement two years ago, the low cost and wide range of subjects of this hobby is increasingly attractive. I feel the bug biting! It's been a pleasure to find this forum. Below, a couple of pics. The kingfisher (showing the need to find a touch-up colour), and also the Serenity I made a few years ago. |

Very nice. Give into the paper model bug, you know you want to.

Pretty scary, huh? However, look at the download section. There are some great free models there. Check out, for example, Peter Zorn's Tri-motor, recolored by Ruben Arias. That's just one example of some great stuff freely offered by a great bunch of designers.
