@Werner
Well, not the „Mauretania“ – apart from joining a new community to meet some old friends I’m especially interested in the „Sea Vixen“… @elliott Okay – then I will place some pictures here every now and then. @SCEtoAUX Thanks – Zweibrücken? Was it maybe during your military service? @Yu Gyokubun Hello Yu – really a long while… Nice to meet you her – hope you’re doing well. @Seascape Thanks, Fred. That’s true – there are some old friends amongst the members here… @Vermin_king Thank you – hope there will really be more time (mostly retired people answer: „I’m afraid I haven’t any time"). @Wilfried Hello Wilfried – well not quite surprising to meet you here… @Michael Mash Hi Mike, nice to meet you here, too! @thorst Hello Thorsten, greetings from the „Oberpfalz“ to „Mittelfranken“! |

Well, of course it couldn't have been you with that military service - you're much too young according to your picture. I somehow read over the year dates...
I'm very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Germany. |

@Peter Taft
Thanks, Peter! Yes, I'm sure, I will.... @Herky Yes, you’re right – there are a lot of HMV-models amongst my kits (many haven’t been built yet), but I build models from other publishers, too, e.g. Moewe-Verlag or MDK-Verlag (both not as detailed as HMV, but some ships which you don’t find elsewhere) or Passat-Verlag (high-class kits) and other smaller publishers. |

Well– let’s start with the card model show…
Back in 2005 I started card modelling again after a 35 years‘ break as I mentioned above. All my ships are waterline models in 1:250. The first one to be glued in 2005 was the old pre-dreadnaught „Schleswig-Holstein“ of the Imperial German Navy (Moewe-Verlag, Germany). When I built this ship I didn’t know anything about laser cut parts, therefore she was fitted with the original card railings from the kit. Maybe one day I will replace these card parts with laser cutted parts. The „Schleswig-Holstein“ was built in 1906. Rebuilt after WWI she was still in use with the „Reichsmarine“ (German Navy of the Weimar Republic). Even the „Kriegsmarine“ used that old ironclad as a cadet training ship. On December 18, 1944, she was bombed near Gotenhafen (today Gdynia, Poland) and sunk. After the war she was raised and towed to Reval (today Tallin, Estonia). Then she was rebuilt and used as a target ship until 1955 for the Red Fleet. The model shows the „Reichsmarine“ version after the reconstruction. |
