Wink Hello from New Mexico

Hello:

My name is Jackie and I am a 100% NSC disabled vet. Because of some of my problems I can no longer do the crafts I used to do. I now look for things that I can do. I enjoy being creative and your models look like just the thing that I will enjoy doing.

Dear Jew4Jesus:
Welcome to the site. We have several disabled people doing paper models if you have problems ask and some one might have had to overcome a problem.
Enjoy,
Miles

Hi Jackie! Welcome to the site. Thanks for joining. I'm 70% VA service-connected and appealing that. Have some issues to overcome in paper modeling but I get by. Love the hobby - anyways, take some time to explore the forum (it's rather big), ask questions and enjoy yourself. Two subforums should help you along the way, First Cuts - A Lounge and Tips and Tricks. We're glad you're here. Welcome aboard.

Smile Thank you

I want to thank you all for being so kind to me and welcoming me to the group.
I have a 36 year old mentally challenged son who might like some of the models also. Not sure. He does puzzles for therapy and he takes and puts them together and then frames them and gives them away.
This may be something we can do together.

You asked on another thread about different kinds of models.
Check out this site:

It has many categories of links for paper models that are good for all age groups and abilities.

Welcome. Yes, paper modeling can be very therapeutic. I've actually done some simple models with children of various ages, and I had my first struggle with doing some simple models with residents at a nursing home (I'm not sure if I will be invited back, since it did not go well). I would suggest that if you try to do these with your son, pick models that are of interest to him. If he likes cars, do cars. If he likes animals, do animals. Start with easier models to start. I would recommend that you get in a little practice before trying to get him started. So what types of models interest you?

Models I like

I like animals, old fashioned homes, old fashioned transportation, Christmas Things like that. My son loves Dogs and Cats. Wish I could get models of old time Radio's and old Record players and music boxes. Things like that. He likes a lot of things. He loves history.
