Smile Greetings from Portland :)

Hello Everyone!
I'm new to paper modelling (sort of fell into it by accident through paper doll stuff) so I tend to stick to easier models.

I tend to make gifty things like simple pop-up cards, gift boxes and easy origami (which even then can be too confusing for me... So ... many... steps ! )

I usually look for models on paperkawaii (yay for step-by-step videos!) or canon creative park.

Of course I've saved more pdfs than I have actually made.

If I'm not trying to make something out of paper I'm usually looking at Onihide's flickr stream (much missed artist), reading a book from Gutenberg (free online books!!!!!whooty-whoot!) or watching David Suchet in "Poirot".

I'm more likely to read than comment which is probably a good thing because I have a lot to learn.
It looks like there are many, many talented people here and I greatly enjoy reading posts and seeing your triumphs and discoveries.
Wishing you all a very happy 2015,
Courtney.

Welcome, Courtney. I think one of the great things about this hobby is that there are projects of all levels. After you get a few projects under your belt, it becomes easier to see projects that will build well and projects that will have issues. Sometimes models would actually be easier with more parts, but there is nothing wrong with simple projects.

Welcome to the site.
Check out the Downloads tab. You will find a lot of models from very easy to quite difficult.

Project Gutenberg is a good site.

Welcome from a fellow Portlander. Is it Portland, OR, or Portland, Maine? You'll find plenty of wonderful assistance and help her from a fantastic group of people. I've been out of the hobby for a few years for various reasons, but getting back into it now. No matter what your interests are, there is very likely a good number of models to fill your time. Enjoy!
Chris

Thank you Vermin_King, I hadn't thought of it like that. I guess practice makes perfect?

I think I might almost have saved as many books from there as paper model pdfs

Thank you Chris I'm in Oregon (Clackamas, which I always thought sounded like some kind of flu you get over Christmas). I was about to complain about the cold starting here but are you in Portland, Maine?

"Quackamas" is what ducks say at Christmas.

"Clackamas" is what ducks say at Christmas if they have false teeth!
