My impromptu workstation and the SS Botany Bay

Thanks for the warm welcome on my return. On my temporary work station (I hope to get a real workshop in the house up and running soon) is a model of the S.S. Botany Bay that is approaching completion from the Star Trek episode “Space Seed”. I got this model from the “Deviant Art” web site of a fellow named Bryan Tan. He uses the name “Rocketman Tan” and has posted a number of paper model projects most of his own design.
This one though was created by Robert Merkstallinger and caught my eye about three years ago. I finally got around to printing and building it in the fall of 2012. I was taking it slowly trying some ideas of my own such as using foam board to build frames to wrap parts around as opposed to just gluing the outer skin of the ship together with the tabs. This has resulted in a considerably more robust construction than only using the printed card in construction. The only problem I have encountered is foam board is often difficult to cut accurately into small pieces.
I’m pleased with the result so far and learning to accept that perfection while a worthy pursuit it’s not obtainable. So while I know every flaw in the model I also know that when my family and friends see my work they ooh and aha and think it’s great. Anyway once again thanks for the welcome and any advice you all can offer will be gladly accepted.

Where did you find this?

I tried looking it up on Deviant Art, but didn't see it.

Do you have a link to Rocketman's kit?

Not sure.

That's much older than a Deviant Art entry, unless the entry used this, or the Pran kit, instead of an original?

I'm still seeking a new version with a better nose formation...
