Greetings from Austria

Hi!

My name is Thomas (40) and I am from Styria/Austria.

In my early teenage years i started to build GELI aircrafts, which was very common at this time in Austria. Later i lost contact with this hobby.

2010 was an exhibition in Austria about William Nordberg (sorry didn't found an english site)
and his work at NASA for example the first weather satellite TIROS 1.
Later he also earned the NASA Distinguished Service Medal

After visiting this exhibition i searched the Net for more Information and found nielspapermodels.
nielspapermodels - Tiros weather satellite by J.Cohn

I was instantly hooked to this hobby again and I build this satellite and the launcher Thor-Able II.

Since than i also joined this forum but never post anything, just watching. (yeah i now shame on me )

Now i am also part of the modelbuildergroup around Kurt (Styrian Spitfire) and Raimund (rkelterer) but i am way more less productive as many members of this group. Hopefully there is no competition in any way.

So maybe i'm able to add something to this great community.

Best regards
Thomas

Hi there Thomas! Welcome to the forum. Thanks for posting in The Welcome Desk. Nice job on TIROS I and its Thor Able II launcher. Your break in building doesn't appear ro have harmed your building skills. We're glad you're here and look forward to seeing you around the forum. Welcome back!

Thank you for your kind welcome.

I'm afraid the list of finished models is not that long.
I start with a Space Shuttle Model from "Wilhelmshavener Modellbaubogen" but abandoned it.

I attached some picture to show some examples of other models I build.

Pic 1: A Picture taken at the Go Modelling 2014 exhibition in Vienna. The Zeppelin (Schreiber-Bogen) and the Snow owl (Canon) are mine.

Pic 2: GoMo2015 The Barn owl (Leon Schuijt), the Cello with music stand (Schreiber-Bogen) and the paper-letters are my work. The letters translated: "Paper modelling friends Styria"

Pic 3: The landmark of my home town "The clock tower of Graz" (Schreiber-Bogen) and the Snow owl (Canon) again.

Pic 4: A glance at my work in progress: a Roman village (nearly finished) and my next project the yacht America (both from Schreiber-Bogen)

I also tried to construct something. First outcome: The Twisted Cube (Pic 5)
Then i started with the construction of the ESA Vega Launcher. (Pic 6 - 8)
Unfortunately not finished yet. But this could be a good opportunity to resume my work on this.

Best regards
Thomas
